William Albert Pullum (8 Apr 1887 -29 Aug 1960), known as the Wizard of weightlifting was very much the father of British weightlifting. He was instrumental in forming the British Amateur Weightlifting Association and literally wrote the book on the 42 recognised lifts. He started the Camberwell Weightlifting Club and his own company (Which still operates as Pullum Sports today over 100 years later). He trained champions and was very much a champion weightlifter in his own right. He wrote two books (Weightlifting made easy and interesting and How to use a Barbell) as well as hundreds of articles on weightlifting.
