New Tutorial Videos!!
Here I shall include those books or courses where the author is not well known but that have caught my interest through being informative or unusual.
Spaldings How to Wrestle poses by Hackenschmidt and Tom Jenkins
Edited Frederick R Toombs, this booklet describes various wrestling techniques. It does include some poses with George Hackenschmidt, but not as many as the title would imply!
1000 Dumbbell, Indian Club and Steel Bar Exercises.
Written by F.J. Harvey I have very little information about the author of this book: 1000 Dumbbell, Indian Club and Steel Bar Exercises. I came across this whilst hunting for books of interest to me online. The published date though scribbled out appears to be 1903. This is supported by the dates in the advertisement on the inside cover (for Health and Strength Aug 1902), and the advertisement in the back for shot loaded barbells (suggesting it predates such equipment as the Pullum plate loaded barbell which was patented in 1921)
How to Obtain Strength (The Nutshell Series)
Penned by J.H Harrison and Ridge King. This book is diffcult to date though the recommendation of using light weights to develop strength would suggest to me late 1890's to early 1900's. It does have a section on heavy weight lifting including descriptions of the Dumbbell snatch, dumbbell swing, Bent press (though it doesn't call it that) with both barbell and Dumbbell and the turkish get up (again, doesn't call it that) with a barbell.
How to Develop Strong Muscular Arms (1960)
This was caught my interest as it is a type written course. Its not terribly clear who the author is but it was published in 1960. It is in very good condition for a pamphlet of this type. Not sure I agree with all the contents but an interesting example of the sort of publications / muscles by mail that were prevelant in that era.
