Maxick (Max Sick 28 Jun 1882 - 5 Oct 1961) was a strength athlete and physical culturist of the early twentieth century. He became renowned for his muscle control and system of physical culture based around this idea. Maxick was able to apparently control and contract his muscles at will and it was this he believed gave him his strength. Whilst I'm not going to throw my weights away tomorrow to solely pursue muscle control, I do think there is value in his idea of being able to control ones muscles if for no other reason than it helps a lifter understand their anatomy better and how activating certain muscles should feel.
Muscle Control was the first book from Maxick describing his original methodology. Later he worked with Monte Saldo and their combined system became known as Maxalding. Maxalding was a very successful "muscles by mail" system of physical culture , Monte Saldo's son Court Saldo carried it on well into the 1960s.
