Welcome to the Iron Den. A wee repository of all things strength. The site is named after my wee personal gym, I have been training in a home gym for many years, with basic equipment.
My name is Chris Martin and I'm a powerlifter, physical culturist and author. I have been involved in strength training since 1991 and a competitive powerlifter since 2004. I've lifted with the the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association BDFPA and the World Drug Free Powerlifting Association WDFPF .
To date I have won five National and one European Single Lift championships for equipped bench press. I have also won my age category at national and World level for unequipped powerlifting. I have set more than a dozen Scottish records, five National records, two European records and a World record across several age and weight categories.
As well as being a lifter I have also been the Technical Secretary for the BDFPA, a position I held for eight years. I am currently the Scottish Divisional representative and an International Referee.
Here I want to share some of my ideas, to help inspire people to take up strength training, and gain the lifelong benefits that it can give you. I'm also using the iron history section to share things that inspired me.
